How it works
GUID and UUID terminology
GUID is a name commonly used for identifiers with the UUID structure. This page creates version 4 UUIDs using the same maintained implementation as the UUID tool, formatted as canonical hyphenated strings.
Use the UUID page if you need timestamp-based version 1 or 7 instead. These identifiers do not grant authorization, and no universal uniqueness guarantee is made. Copy one identifier or export up to 10,000 subject to the shared output limit.
